Documentation Changes for Office Visits 2021

It has been almost 30 years since the documentation guidelines for office and outpatient visits were written.  As part of the Patients Over Paperwork Act these outdated guidelines are being retired and the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have created new guidelines that go into effect for dates of service beginning January 1, 2021

Session highlights:

·         Changes to choosing the level of service based on time

·         The 3 revised elements of medical decision making

·         The new role of history and examination

·         New ways to give providers credit for diagnostic testing

·         Tips on what your office should do for compliance

·         Educating the providers in your office on the changes
